I wasn’t expecting that! June 8, 2009
I know you’re probably tired of me apologising every time I blog but I’m sorry. I will get round to changing the layout, returning comments and just updating as soon as possible. I’ve had loads and loads of trips to the hospital lately and when I’m free, I don’t feel like updating!
When I was about seven, I had a bowel resection and had to have an operation. And to stop it from coming back, I have to have an endoscopy (basically it’s a camera down your throat and up your backside, lol) every two years. I had one last Thursday and I had to go for a check-up the Thursday before to make sure I was okay to have the operation. When the nurse checked my heart beat with a stethoscope, she found a heart murmur, so she took me to have an ECG. Then she pricked my finger for some blood. When she was finally done, my Mum took me to the Trafford Centre (she promised me a Juicy Couture watch for having the operation :P) and while we were there, the nurse phoned. She said my iron levels in my blood were extremely low (they were 4.1 and they are supposed to be 13.5). So we went back to the hospital so I could have a proper blood test. Then we had to wait forever for the Doctor to tell us what was going to happen. When we were called in, the Doctor asked if I could stay at the hospital overnight and have a blood transfusion! But the thing is, the hospital is in Manchester and I don’t even live in Manchester! My Mum told the Doctor that it wasn’t possible to stay overnight so he phoned a local hospital and asked them if I could stay there, which I could. So me and my Mum drove back home, got me some stuff and went to the local hospital and I had a blood transfusion. The people there are a lot more friendly than the people at the hospital in Manchester - they ordered a Domino’s Pizza for me, haha!
But it doesn’t end there. I had to miss school on Wednesday and Thursday because my operation was on Thursday and I have to have this special diet and some medicine on Wednesday (toast, piece of fish, jelly and clear soup) which made me go to the toilet every five minutes. I was looking forward to a lie in on that day but my Mum revealed on Tuesday that we had to go up to Manchester again to have a heart scan (because of the heart murmur). I also had a blood test while I was there and they said that my iron levels was 11!
I was quite scared on Thursday but I was also ready to get the operation over and done with. I remember feeling dizzy falling asleep and then waking up feeling dizzy, lol. As soon as I woke up, I was eating chocolate :P. All of these medical investigations are almost done, I just need to have an X-ray on Wednesday, but I have drink this medicine which I will hate - not looking forward to that at all!
Questions!
- Have you ever been to hospital?
- Do you like injections/blood tests?
- What is your favourite fruit?

Blah blah May 21, 2009
Hey everyone. I apologise for being inactive, not updating, not replying to comments…I will do that over the weekend!
I was ill last week and missed school. I was actually sick at my friend’s house and I have continuously apologised to her but she keeps saying that it doesn’t matter anymore, lol. My SATS exams went okay, the hardest was the second science test - seriously! Now I have no more exams until June. Grreeaat.
Did anyone watch the Eurovision Song Contest? I did! We had a Eurovision party at my Auntie’s house and we had a sweep where you pay 50p and pick a piece of paper out of a box which had a country on it. If the country you picked won, you won the total amount of money. I picked two out - which were Moldova and Norway! When I picked them out, I thought ‘great, I’m not going to win anything’. But hey hey, I did! I won £12.50! I didn’t even think Norway were good, and I heard that the lad who sung and played the violin wasn’t even Norweigen. I loved United Kingdom of course, Denmark and Germany. Ah well, at least I won some money!
This is going to be a short blog, I’m sorry. I’m currently a lousy web person (whatever you prefer to call them) and I will update and return comments over the weekend! I will leave you with some questions as I know you all love answering them
- Do you have any pets?
- Bracelet or necklace?
- When was the last time you ate a chocolate bar?
